I’ve been following musician, author, teacher and monk John Michael Talbot for about 20 years, so I was thrilled to interview him for New Identity Magazine. So, just what is the new monasticism? “The Space Between” is back! After a one-issue hiatus, my column returns to New Identity Magazine. This edition is a new interview with Harry Potter expert Leigh Hickman, who just can’t help but see Jesus in the boy wizard. Speaking at the Rethinking Everything Conference this year was an amazing experience! I’ll be blogging about it as soon as I’ve had a moment to gather my thoughts! It’s been a heck of a busy season around here. *cough!*Spocktober*cough!* Until I get to that, please enjoy my article in the current issue of Rethinking Everything [...] Remember my pen-throwing friend Leigh? Well, in addition to hurling writing utensils at people she dearly loves, she is also an expert on Harry Potter. My interview with her marks my inaugural post as a blogger for Art House Dallas. My latest column features an interview with Linford Detweiler of the band Over the Rhine. It was a great conversation with a musical hero of mine who, with his wife and bandmate Karin Bergquist (equally heroic), is reaching a milestone or two. Once again, I was grateful to be a part of the Paideia College Society‘s annual conference at Dallas Baptist University! And now, after a bit of time off, I’m here to tell you all about it! . If you’ve read my latest column in New Identity Magazine, you’ve seen the bit of text to the left and may have gone looking for this guide here or on Amazon or B&N. Well… . I’ve posted previously about my paper on Star Trek that’s being published in the forthcoming book Light Shining in a Dark Place: Discovering Theology Through Film. My latest column gives you a sneak peek at that paper. In so doing I hope it provides some insight into why I think Star Trek is important. [...] . Most of us stopped reading kids’ books when we were kids or when our kids grew up. Many of us have picked up the habit again out of necessity since having kids or grandkids of our own. We usually view them as valuable tools for teaching kids to read. But what if they’re something [...] The Winter 2010/2011 issue of New Identity Magazine also features the roll-out of my new column, “The Space Between: Seeking the Sacred Between the Pages of Pop Culture.” Check it out on pages 32-33. You can read the issue online or buy the print edition for 25% Off through December 31, 2010. This issue, I’m [...] |
